This ornament is a tribute to the artistic partnership between Maestro Arnaldo Pomodoro and Ludovico Corrao, the creative mind behind the rebirth of Gibellina and the Orestiadi Foundation. The “Oreste's Chariot” is one of the stage machines created by Arnaldo Pomodoro for Emilio Isgrò's Orestea, which was staged on the ruins of Gibellina in 1983.

This chariot wheel carries with it the signs of an ideal alphabet of the Mediterranean, a dream of a sea of peace.

Handmade in Italy by Matteo Bonafede for Artensis and Fondazione Orestiadi.

Arnaldo Pomodoro’s work emerged, in the mid-1950s, at the center of the heated debate on art autre, fueled in Italy by the significant contribution of Francesco Arcangeli’s theories of a “new naturalism.” For some, this moment represented a point of arrival. For others, including the very young Pomodoro, it was a climate already showing signs of crisis and an urgent need to move beyond it—particularly in an anti-historical direction [...]

Reproduction of Mimmo Paladino's drawing made for the Orestiadi Foundation of Gibellina. Mention of his "Salt Mountain," a scenography created for the play "The Bride of Messina" by Friedrich Schiller directed by Elio De Capitani, staged for the 1990 Orestiadi. The "Salt Mountain" dominates the Baglio, site of the Orestiadi Foundation.

The artist Fausto Gilberti takes us by the hand to discover the art of Jackson Pollock, a brilliant and restless painter. One who didn’t like standing still in front of the easel, with brushes and palette in hand, but who found his own unique way of painting: he dripped, splattered, and let the paint flow, roaming around the unrolled canvas with the energy and grace of a dancer.

In the same series, where the artist Gilberti tells us, with intelligence and a playful eye, the works of great figures in contemporary art, we find the stories of Yves Klein, Piero Manzoni, Marcel Duchamp, Lucio Fontana, Yayoi Kusama, and Banksy.
