The green magician, the friendly Alfonso, disappears and reappears in trunks and boxes, changes his outfit, and lets us catch glimpses of his tools of the trade while we chase him through the pages. But every time, he's faster than us and... where could he have gone? Until, in a mysterious trunk, there he is playing his violin!

Along with eight other texts, Il prestigiatore verde is part of the historic series I libri del '45, to which Bruno Munari dedicated himself after the birth of his son, Alberto. Books made of die-cuts, holes, and large, elegant drawings that invite a game of discoveries and explorations, leaving everyone hanging on the magic that paper can create.

This series – a timeless classic that in 2025 celebrates its 80th anniversary since the first edition – maintains its originality and aims to stimulate children's curiosity, helping them discover that inside something, there’s always something else, encouraging them to explore with wonder. Many of these texts were inspired by games and rituals that Munari shared with his son, Alberto, which he then chose to put on paper. For the joy of all children, and not just them.
